Michael Lee, MA, DipSocSci, C-IAYT, having grown up in Australia, Michael held college teaching posts there and in Papua New Guinea.

His expertise lay in the field of personal and organizational change. In 1984, he arrived in the United States and began a career in yoga therapy alongside a personal journey of transformation with a focus on mental, spiritual, and emotional health.

Michael Lee founded Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy in 1986, integrating yoga and mindfulness with key elements from the psychology of behavioral change, supported by neuroscience. His published works include Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy: A Bridge from Body to Soul and Turn Stress Into Bliss.

He has contributed to several additional books in the field of yoga therapy, including a chapter in the APA-published Beyond Talk Therapy; Dr. Timothy McCall’s Yoga as Medicine; Yoga Therapy and Integrative Medicine; and Yoga and Science in Pain Care.

Michael has been honored as a keynote speaker at the conferences of IAYT, Yoga Australia, and the International Congress on Integrative Medicine and Health.
